Bridge Calculator: How It Works & Parameter Guide

The Bridge Calculator is a tool for designing custom string instrument bridges. It automatically calculates the geometry based on your input parameters, draws an interactive preview on the screen, and lets you export the result as a ready-to-use DXF file for CNC machines or a 1:1 scale printable PDF.

What Each Parameter Does

  • Bridge Type: Choose the visual style:
    • Modern: Adds two mounting holes near the top edge.
    • Traditional: Adds a classic diamond-shaped crown to the top edge.
  • Bridge Height (mm): Shows the calculated total height of the bridge. This value updates automatically and cannot be edited manually.
  • Bottom Width (mm): The width of the bridge at its bottom edge.
  • Top Width (mm): The width of the bridge at its top edge.
  • Row Gap (mm): The distance between the inner ends of the left and right string slots.
  • Left Base Offset (mm): The distance from the bottom edge to the center of the lowest left slot.
  • Left Row Count: Number of string slots on the left side.
  • Left Step (mm): Distance between neighboring slots on the left side.
  • Right Row Count: Number of string slots on the right side.
  • Right Step (mm): Distance between neighboring slots on the right side.
